2015 Tasting Notes
A blend of Barossa Valley Grenache 58%, Mataro 32% and Cinsault 10%
This 2015 Spinifex Miette Grenache Mataro Cinsaultis a spicy, fragrant and full-flavoured red with alluring aromatics of warm, exotic spice and red fruits. It offers fresh mid weight palate with strong cherry, leather and cocoa and dried herb flavour with plenty of depth and savoury charm to its ripe plump fruitwhich is given levity and freshness from its high-grown tannins and sweet/sour acidity.
All fruit was hand harvested from old Barossa Valleyvineyards. The fermentations were carried our with indigenous yeast in small open fermenters, with 30% as whole bunches, prior to gentle pressing and maturation on light lees. All the components were matured in seasoned French oak and stayed on light lees, which helps retain fruit freshness and preserves natural tannin, prior to blending and further maturation in tank prior to bottling.

58% Grenache, 32% Mataro, 10% Cinsault is the final bl end and wow, what a beautiful wine. Not the most complex, but for sheer drinking pleasure, it’s right up there, as lofty as the aromatics of red licorice, musk, menthol and spice. Silky sensation to the tannins, a bit of grunt too, and a lively acid kick to finish.
